When working on the exterior of a building during a remodel or upgrade, it’s important to explore all options for exterior insulation. Making sure your structure is properly insulated both inside and out will lower your heating and cooling bills and ensure your building is comfortable inside year-round.
If you are contemplating how to install foam board insulation on exterior walls, consider spray foam exterior insulation instead. At Foam InSEALators, we apply spray foam to building exteriors as our exterior foam insulation of choice. Using exterior spray foam is one of the most convenient and cost effective ways to insulate the exterior of a building during a remodel or upgrade.
Our expert team of insulation specialists chooses to use spray foam exterior insulation instead of installing foam board insulation (also known as exterior rigid insulation) for several reasons:
When applying spray foam insulation to the exterior of buildings, we use closed cell spray foam insulation. With closed cell spray foam insulation, the bubbles formed during application remain intact (closed). This makes the product more rigid than open cell spray foam insulation. This can contribute to building stability during storms and high winds. The increased density also contributes to a higher R-value than open cell foam.
